Australian Business Volunteers
Volunteer/s Needed - Children's Surgical Hospital, Phnom Penh, Cambodia

The hospital in Cambodia is a charity hospital and has a program where almost every week of the year sees a surgical team coming from America, UK, Australia, France or Germany to do advanced surgical procedures not available elsewhere in Cambodia for the poor and also to train the Cambodian doctors on staff.  The hospital has expanded from its original mission to children to provide free services to both children and adults.

As with most charity facilities they need the assistance of professionals who can volunteer their time and expertise to help such facilities set up good systems and training for the Cambodian people.  The hospital is in need of an experienced health information officer to assist in setting up a simple and reliable medical records system and train the staff (English speakers) in its use.  There is a good computer system available and also staff trained in IT.

The position would suit a recently retired member, or someone with some spare holidays who might be interested in assisting on such a project.  The Cambodian people are keen to learn and generous with their friendship.  A new way to travel, you will see another side of the country to the average tourist, taste wonderful foods and you would be advancing the knowledge of Cambodian staff.  This assignment has been approved by Australian Business Volunteers who in addition to supporting the volunteer will provide airfares, travel insurance and a weekly living allowance.  Accommodation in Cambodia is supplied.  It is possible to organize with ABV for your spouse to accompany.
