Health Information Manager - (1 day per week) - Tweddle Child and Family Health Service, Footscray, Vic.

Pay rate:  Grade G 244 - $70K per annum - (full time) -pro rata

Tweddle:  Happy health families raising children.  Tweddle provides parenting support and education to families with children aged 0-4.  Tweddle is an early intervention and prevention health services.

We require an enthusiastic Health Information Manager with excellent communication and organizational skills who can work in a team environment and relate well to all levels of staff.  You will be a qualified and experienced clinical coder with experience in a hospital setting.  You will be responsible for the coordination, maintenance, storage, security and retrieval of Tweddle's health information and medical records.

Essential Requirements:

  • Bachelor of Health Information Management or equivalent approved coding course
  • Previous experience in the role of Health Information Manager in a hospital setting.

  • Ability to schedule and prioritise tasks and to work with minimal supervision.

Health Information  Manager/Clinical Coder - Wimmera Health Care Group, Horsham, Vic.

An opportunity exists for a Health Information Manager to join the team at Wimmera Health Care Group - Horsham.  Clinical Coders may also apply for this position (responsibilities would alter for a Clinical Coder).  Clinical Coding attracts a high profile at Wimmera Health Care Group due to its current roles in casemix funding and in supporting the information needs of the organisation.

Responsibilities:

  • Provision of timely and accurate clinical coding data using ICD-10-AM to both the Horsham and Dimboola Campuses of WHCG and in a contract role to Dunmunkle Health Services (Rupanyup).
  • Provision of a record management service to the Dimboola Campus 
  • Collection and reporting of data for use in clinical indicators, research and evaluation of services
  • Provision of education and analysis of Clinical Coding and Casemix information
  • Participation in quality improvement activities, participation in hospital EQuIP
  • Ensuring adequate storage of all clinical records in correspondence wit relevant legislation
  • Provide Privacy Compliance education to new staff and support to existing staff

Essential Requirements:

  • Bachelor of Health Information Management or Clinical Coder qualification

HIM Clinical Coder/Audit Officer - (Full time) - The Canberra Hospital, Canberra, ACT.

Pay Rate:  $70,774 - $74,676

An exciting opportunity exists for a Health Information Manager to join the clinical coding team at The Canberra Hospital.  The successful applicant will have recent clinical coding experience in a tertiary facility across a broad range of casemix using ICD-10-AM 6th edition, some experience training clinical coders and conducting coding quality audits involving interactive casemix reviews with clinical staff, a sound knowledge of casemix, and excellent communication skills.  Previous supervisory experience would be advantage.  We will consider less experienced health information managers who are seeking advancement and a broadening of their casemix and coding skills.

The Canberra Hospital is a 500-bed teaching hospital providing tertiary referral services for the ACT and southeast NSW and utilises an on-line electronic storage system for clinical records (CRIS).  Canberra is a city with outstanding amenities and excellent housing, educational and leisure opportunities.  It is home to national icons and monuments as well as natural treasures.  Beautiful south coast breaches and the ski fields are nearby; Sydney is only 3 hours away by road.

Eligibility/Other Requirements:  Bachelor of Applied Science (Health Information Management) or equivalent qualification or eligibility for admission to full membership of the Health Information Management Association of Australia.  Several years recent clinical coding experience incorporating some casemix analysis and effective written and verbal communication skills.  Note:  Applicants will be required to sit a coding assessment prior to interview.

This position is responsible for the following tasks:

Coding Manager - (Full time) - The Royal Children's Hospital, Melbourne, Vic.

The Royal Children's Hospital is undergoing an exciting transformation with the implementation of new technologies including the electronic scanned medical record, and the move to a brand new state-of-the-art facility in 2011.

A full-time grade 3 Coding Manager position is exists within Health Information Services.  We are seeking an experienced and enthusiastic HIM professional with well-developed coding skills and the ability to lead and support a team of coding HIMs.

This role primarily involves ensuring HIS provides accurate and timely coded data, education and training of coders, performing unit-based auditing and providing relevant coding and casemix education to clinical staff.  Some staff management responsibilities relevant to the coding process may be required in this role.

Cancer Council Victoria is seeking a Data Manager to assist in the Caner Epidemiology Centre's (CEC's) collaborative research program, which involves recruiting cancer patients into ethically approved studies.

Reporting to the Director of Registry Systems, the Data Manager will be responsible for identification and recruitment of eligible study participants, and ensuring confidentially and privacy guidelines are met.

A relevant tertiary qualification is desirable and/or significant relevant experience.  You will have good written and verbal communication skills to facilitate relationships with staff and study participants.  You will be able to prioritise tasks, work autonomously and have excellent attention to detail.

The position is full-time, fixed-term for 2 years with a Total Equivalent Package Value within range $47, 322-$52,577 pa, which includes base salary, superannuation, annual leave loading and maximum additional benefit of salary packaging.

  • Skills in computing including familiarity with Windows, Word and Excel.
  • Understanding and appreciation of medical profession etiquette and ethics including privacy and confidentiality.
  • Ability to interpret information from pathology reports to identify patients meeting study selection criteria.

Interpersonal Skills

  • Effective communication skills to facilitate relationships with internal staff and the ability to work effectively within a team.
  • Ability to liaise with doctors and cancer patients with sensitivity and discretion.
