HIMAA has recently concluded a license agreement with MedFormatix, a Riyadh based training company, for the delivery of HIMAA's courses in Comprehensive Medical Terminology and Clinical Coding (to Intermediate Course level) in the Middle East. Initially training will be centered on the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. HIMAA and MedFormatix are seeking a suitably qualified and experienced HIM or Clinical Coder to deliver the training in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. 

Unless the successful applicant speaks Arabic, all instruction will be in English. The successful applicant will be expected to attend an induction/familiarization period of 
1 - 2 weeks with HIMAA Education Services at North Ryde, Sydney prior to departing 
for Riyadh. The successful applicant will be employed by MedFormatix. 

Job Description:

Utilising HIMAA's training materials:

  • Provide instruction in medical terminology and clinical coding with ICD-10-AM, ACHI & ACS; 
  • Plan course instruction based upon approved course syllabus (outline), contents, and objectives; and 
  • Monitor students' performance, evaluation (assessment), and certification processes. 

Present course material in a way that accommodates students with diverse learning styles. 

If the successful applicant has the requisite qualifications/experience, train suitably qualified and experienced Saudi Arabian HIMs/clinical coders to take over the conduct of the medical terminology and clinical coding courses. 

Selection Criteria:

We are expecting that the successful applicant will have:

  • A HIM degree and/or have qualified at the HIMAA Advanced ICD-10-AM, ACHI & ACS course; 
  • 5-10 years of coding experience in a varied casemix with ICD-10-AM, ACHI & ACS; 
  • Experience in adult education, preferably in the field of ICD-10-AM training; 
  • Good communication skills; and 
  • The demonstrated ability to work alone as well as part of a team. 

Desirable qualifications/experience include: 

  • CERT IV Training & Assessment (or equivalent), 
  • Managerial skills, and 
  • The ability to speak Arabic.

This is a full time position with a 12-24 month contract (24 month preferred), ideally starting October 2010. A full-time grade 3 position is currently available in HIS.  The Data Quality Manager is a newly created position and this will provide the successful incumbent with the unique opportunity to develop the role in collaboration with the Manger HIS.

This position requires a dynamic HIM professional with a penchant for quality to embrace this role by reviewing existing and future systems and processes, education staff on data quality, benchmarking, implementing data quality checking tools and further developing the department quality plan, Coding auditing and some staff management responsibilities will also be part of this position.

Five years acute hospital experience is essential as are qualifications in Health Information Management.  Experience in a paediatric hospital is desirable.

BreastScreen Victoria is part of a national breast cancer screening program offering women aged 50 and over free screening mammograms every two years.  BreastScreen Victoria aims to reduce deaths from breast cancer through early detection of the disease.

Casemix and Coding Manager - (Full Time) - Waitemata District Health Board, Auckland, New Zealand.
