These positions would suit experienced and dedicated Health Information Managers.  Responsibilities will include meeting strict end of month coding deadlines, attendance at monthly coding meetings and education sessions, provision of casemix and funding information to clinical staff, participation in documentation and coding reviews with clinical staff and liaison with Health Funds and Epworth HealthCares' Billing and Credit offices.  Other responsibilities depending on the individuals interest and previous experience will be considered.

Are you a Clinical Coding Specialist with an interest in management.  An excellent opportunity exists for an experienced and motivated Health Information Manager to manage our specialised Coding/Casemix Service.

The successful applicant will be responsible for:

  • Management of coding team to optimise coding and WIES
  • Ensure all internal and external reporting deadlines are met
  • Provide expert casemix advise to the Executive
  • Coordinate and participate in benchmarking studies including audits
  • Provide coding and casemix education to clinical units
  • Coordinate clinical indicator submission

Austin Health is a  major tertiary teaching hospital with Statewide services in liver transplantation and spinal cord service.  Other speciality services including nephrology, infectious disease, oncology, respiratory medicine, endocrinology, neurology, haematology, cardiac, orthopaedics, vascular surgery, urology, plastics and neurosurgery.  A Scanned Medical Record system was implemented in December.  A degree in Health Information Management or equivalent is essential.  A minimum of 5 years coding experience is required.  Applicants must be eligible for full membership of HIMAA.

Project Manager (EPI.112) - (Full time) - Cancer Council Victoria, Carlton, Vic.

The Cancer Epidemiology Centre is seeking a Project Manager to lead our Pattern of Care Projects.

Cancer patient outcomes and survival depend on appropriate timely access to clinical services, including elements of supportive care.  This project seeks to improve outcomes for patients with less common forms of cancer in Victoria.  The outcome of this project is to determine patterns of care, identify gaps in service delivery or access, measure regional and social differences and explore unmet clinical needs.

The Project Manager will take the lead role in managing the project to ensure timely delivery of project milestones, reporting regularly to key researchers, collaborators and stakeholders.

You will be degree qualified with demonstrated ability to manage large research projects preferably in assessing clinical patterns of care.  A demonstrated ability to manage quantitative and qualitative research, supervision of staff and excellent problem solving and analytical skills are also required.

This position is full-time fixed term for 4 years.

  • Degree in a relevant discipline.

Experience required

  • Significant experience in project management in a related field (approx 5 years).

  • Previous experience on research projects in public health or clinical settings.

Operations Manager (EP1.41) - (Fulltime) - Cancer Council Victoria, Carlton, Vic.

Cancer Council Victoria aims to reduce the incidence of cancer and provide support for people who have cancer.  The Cancer Epidemiology Centre (CEC) manages several research databases including the Victorian Cancer Registry (VCR), which stores information about all cancers diagnosed in Victorian residents.

The CEC is seeking the services of an experienced an enthusiastic Operations Manager to provide overall management of the day-to-day operation of VCR.

Reporting to the Director - Registry systems, the Operations Manager will be responsible for staff management and resources, monitoring the progress of cancer registration processing and workflow, and establishing and maintaining systems and procedures to achieve a comprehensive, accurate and secure registry database.  An important part of the role includes overseeing the notification of cancer reports from external organisations such as hospitals, pathology labs and prescribed register notifiers.

The successful individual will have a degree in Health Information Management or a related field, and have extensive experience in a hospital or health setting where workflow and staff management have been a major component.  You will possess high level planning, communication and organisational skills, coupled with a comprehensive understanding of the legal and ethical issues involved with population based cancer data collections.

This is a full-time continuing position with a Total Equivalent Package Value within range: $72,824-$85,673 pa (includes base salary, superannuation, annual leave loading and maximum additional benefit of salary packaging).

Senior Health Information Manager - Grade 3, Western Health, Vic.

Full Time (80 hours per fortnight), Ongoing

A fantastic opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic, motivated and experienced Health Information Manager to join the management team at Western Health.

Initially this position will be based at Sunshine Hospital.  The person will be coving the deputy manager's position (while she relieve the site manage of HIS sunshine who is on Maternity leave).  As such, this involves minimal ICD-10-AM Coding (using 3M encoder), transmission of data via PRS to VAED and assisting the site manager with the day to day management of the Department in particular the transcription service at Sunshine Hospital.  The position is also responsible for covering the Department Manager when they are away from the Department.

Upon completion of the maternity leave cover, this position will perform other senior Health Information Management duties such as projects, an example of which could be an involvement with the proposed implementation of a scanned medical record.

This is a great opportunity for an experienced Health Information Manager and provides a wide variety of no coding related activities.  We are looking for a HIM who has significant experience in VAED and some exposure to staff management.

Good interpersonal skills are essential as the position requires liaising with all levels of staff.

A recognised qualification in Health Information Management or equivalent is required.  Applicants must be eligible for full membership of the Health Information Management Association of Australia.
