18/06/09 WW2016 Operations Manager - Victorian Cancer Registry - (Full time) - Cancer Council Victoria, Carlton, Vic. Cancer Council Victoria aims to reduce the incidence of cancer and provide support for people who have cancer. The Cancer Epidemiology Centre (CEC) manages several research databases including the Victorian Cancer Registry (VCR), which stores information about all cancers diagnosed in Victorian residents. The CEC is seeking the services of an experienced and enthusiastic Operations Manager to provide overall management of the day-to-day operations of the VCR. Reporting to the Director - Registry Systems, the Operations Manager will be responsible for staff management and resources, monitoring the progress of cancer registration processing and workflow, and establishing and maintaining systems and procedures to achieve a comprehensive, accurate and secure registry database. An important part of the role includes overseeing the notification of cancer reports from external organisations such as hospitals, pathology labs and prescribed register notifiers. The successful individual will have a degree in Health Information Management or a related field, and have extensive experience in a hospital or health setting where workflow and staff management have been a major component. You will possess high level planning, communication and organisational skills, coupled with a comprehensive understanding of the legal and ethical issues involved with population based cancer data collections. This is a full-time continuing position with a Total Equivalent Package Value within range $72,824-$85,673 pa (includes base salary, superannuation, annual leave loading and maximum additional benefit of salary packaging). Reporting to the Director of Registry Systems, the Data Manager is responsible for the identification of cancer patients meeting the cancer eligibility criteria. Eligible patients are then approached in accordance with agreed protocols, to obtain permission to release their contact details to the cancer study researchers for inclusion into their study. A relevant tertiary qualification is desirable and/or significant relevant experience. The role is also responsible for day to day management of an Analyst, Data and Reporting Systems. This position will drive the establishment of agreed data standards in a tumour stream based paradigm. The position will coordinate the development, implementation and ongoing management of a consensus dataset for the 10 statewide tumour streams. The incumbent will also coordinate the publication of cancer information standards that will support clinical and reporting systems and improve the quality of cancer care in Victoria.
