The Mildura Base Hospital is an accredited regional referral centre, servicing approximately 80,000 people in North West Victoria & South West NSW.  It is a fully integrated facility with 153 beds, including medicine, surgery, paediatrics, obstetrics & gynaecology, psychiatry, rehabilitation and three fully equipped operating theatres.

From time to time HIMAA needs to develop major policy documents and submissions to government reviews/commissions.
On occasions the time frame involved and/or complexity of such documents is beyond the capacity of the HIMAA Board and/or HIMAA National Office.
HIMAA is seeking to establish a register of professional persons in the health information management field who are capable of developing (including the necessary research) policy documents and submissions, sometimes at short notice, on a fee for service basis.

Coordinator - Breast Cancer Data Collection Software - (Full time) - Cancer Council Victoria, Carlton, Vic.

Cancer Council Victoria is seeking a Coordinator for the implementation of Breast Cancer Data Collection software (RUTH) in our Cancer Epidemiology Centre.

The RUTH project involves both the Victorian Cancer Registry (VCR) and the Western Central Metropolitan Integrated Cancer Service (WCMICS).  The VCR is currently working towards a Cancer Registry that is integrated with existing Victorian health databases and provides full electronic reporting as well as an expanded data profile which includes cancer stage, treatment, prognostic indicators and cancer recurrence information.  The RUTH project will expand on work already undertaken by various trails involving the VCR in relation to the capture of an expanded clinical cancer data set.

The Coordinator will be responsible for the implementation of the software at 4 health services.  It is expected the incumbent will develop sufficient product expertise to undertake reconfiguration should changes to the current RUTH breast cancer data set be necessary.  The incumbent will also be responsible for the provision of software training and support at the 4 participating sites.

You will be degree qualified in Health Information Management or other related field with at least three years experience in a health setting which will include previous database management and the ability to develop and deliver software application training.  Knowledge of health related data capture programs and experience in the use and application of disease/procedure classification systems will also be required.

This is full-time fixed-term position for 12 months.

Essential Criteria
Qualifications/Education and Training

  • A tertiary degree in health sciences or a related discipline, or at least 3 years experience in a health setting which included:
  • Database management
  • Development and delivery of software application training

Knowledge and Skills

  • Knowledge of health related data capture programs.
  • Ability to plan, develop and implement training programs.
  • Ability to independently identify, implement and document solutions relating to data collection.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of disease classification systems in particular in relation to oncology.
  • Understanding of relational database relationships and structures, and the complexities of health data collection.

Interpersonal Skills

  • To be a self starter who can work independently with limited direction and who can generate, schedule and prioritise work on their own behalf.

Cancer Council Victoria is seeking a Coordinator, Consensus Data Sets to join the Victorian Cancer Registry (VCR) located within the Cancer Epidemiology Centre.  The VCR is working towards a Cancer Registry that is integrated with existing Victorian health databases and provides full electronic reporting as well as an expanded data profile which includes cancer stage, treatment, prognostic indicators and cancer recurrence information.  This position will drive a standard based approach to data capture.

This position will coordinate the development, implementation and ongoing management of a consensus dataset for the 10 state-wide tumour streams.  The incumbent will also coordinate the publication of cancer information standards that will support clinical and reporting systems and improve the quality of cancer care in Victoria.  The incumbent will be required to work collaboratively with key stakeholders.

You will be degree qualified in Health Information Management or other related field with relevant experience working in oncology data management.  You will have previous demonstrated experience in health related data capture programs and experience in the use and application of disease/procedure classification systems.

This is a full-time fixed-term position for 2 years.

Essential Criteria

  • A degree in Health Information Management or other related field with five years experience working in oncology data management (at least 2 at a higher level).
  • Analysis and reporting of cancer data
  • Data dictionary development and maintenance.
