Werribee Mercy Hospital is a 194 bed public hospital locate din the rapidly growing western region of Melbourne.  It offers Inpatient (Surgical, Maternity and Medical), 24 -hour Emergency, Day Procedure, Mental Health, Aged and Palliative Care services.  The Werribee Mercy Hospital is focused on expanding and diversifying its services to the community to meet the region 's health needs.

Health Information Services is seeking a motivated and driven Health Information Manager.

Duties the successful applicant will be involved in include:

  • Completion of month coding
  • Reporting of monthly statistics
  • Casemix analysis
  • Preparation and submission of data for Clinical Indicators and 
  • Participation in HIS's Quality Program

As the Werribee Mercy Hospital expands its services, Health Information Services will need to evolve and adapt to cater for the changing environment hence there will be many opportunities for Health Information Managers to participate in a range of projects.  The successful applicant must hold the appropriate qualifications in Health Information Health Professional Services Award and will be dependent on experience.  Salary packaging is offered to all staff.

Clinical Coder - Northern Health, Epping, Vic.

We are looking for enthusiastic, high motivated people with either a degree in Health Information Management (or equivalent) or successful completion of a recognised clinical coding course, to join the Health Information Management team at Northern Health.  The Health Information Management team consists of 20 HIMs/Clinical Coders and is responsible for providing and managing all casemix and hospital management data including VAED/VEMD/ESIS and AIMS.  

You will be provided with a wide range of casemix, including medical, surgical, ICU, plastics, maternity, paediatrics, orthopaedics, oncology, day surgery, rehabilitation and palliative care.  The position is primarily based at The Northern Hospital however it will involve travelling to other Northern Health sites.  

The role includes ICD-10-AM coding using the 3M Codefinder, coding audits and Quality Improvement activities across all Northern Health sites.  We require enthusiastic Health Information Managers/Clinical Coders with effective communication and organisational skills who can work in a team environment and relate well to all levels of staff.  Northern Health will be moving towards a scanned medical record - Clinical Patient Record (CPF) in September 2008.  This may offer suitable coders the opportunity to work from home.

Desirable:

Clinical Registry System Developer, St Andrew's Medical Institute, Brisbane.

The Medical Institute together with St Andrew's War Memorial Hospital, hosts clinical practitioners determined to expand the international recognition for St Andrew's world-class outcomes across the range of acute care specialties.

SAMI has just completed the first stage implementation of a innovative clinical audit system and now seeks to fill an exciting position, which will play a central role in supporting its expansion across other procedures and facilities.

This is a diverse role, involving end-to-end project management of collaborative design and implementation of clinical registries and includes responsibility for facilitating clinicians' input from across a range of specialties.

This role will also be responsible for the data quality and reporting processes for all Registries as well as supporting policies and procedures to ensure effective operations and compliance with relevant legislation.

We are looking for a pro-active team-player with experience working as an internal consultant, building and implementing database systems to support multi-disciplinary teams. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills and confidence in working with private medical consultants are also essential.

The position's responsibilities will require coordinating Registry Steering Committee meetings outside normal business hours.

The St Andrew's Medical Institute office is situated on the the edge of Brisbane's CBD in St Andrew's War Memorial Hospital.

Selection Criteria:

  • Clinical background, i.e. nursing, medical, allied health or other health professional;
  • Extensive experience in health informatics, ideally involving registries for clinical audit;
  • Substantial experience in project management of collaborative projects;
  • High level communication and interpersonal skills;
  • High level organisational & priority management skills;
  • High level MS office skills;
  • Strong and adaptable skills in database applications in web and client-server;

You will be degree qualified with at least 2 years experience in data management or come from a Health, Science or Information Technology environment.
