Pay Rate: $32.12 per hour.

Essential Requirements: 

  • Degree or equivalent in Health Information Management/Medical Record Administration or evidence of working towards completion of tertiary qualification in Health Information Management by external or part time studies 
  • Eligibility for full or student membership of the Health Information Management Association of Australia (HIMAA)
  • Demonstrated ability to provide clinical information to patients, third party requests and health professionals in line with NSW Privacy requirements
  • Demonstrated experience supervising staff and ability to work unsupervised, problem solve and prioritise tasks
  • Demonstrated experience using a Patient Administration System (PAS) or similar in a hospital setting
  • High level of verbal and written communication skills, including demonstrated proficiency in Microsoft office applications
  • Demonstrated understanding of the ICD10 AM coding classification system, including allocation of DRGs and Casemix Reporting

Sunnybank Private Hospital is seeking a full time Clinical Coder to join our expanding Medical Record Department. We are located on the south side of Brisbane, Approximately 12 kms from the Brisbane CBD.

Sunnybank Private Hospital is a 142 bed acute facility owned by Healthscope. Healthscope operate 42 hospitals across Australia and will be investing in major expansions to the facilities and services offered at Sunnybank Private over the next 2 years. At present we provide a wide range of specialties including Obstetric, Rehabilitation, Day Surgery, Oncology, Medical, Surgical and Critical Care services that will be expanding following completion of the major refurbishments planned for the hospital.

The successful applicant of the Clinical Coding position will possess the following criteria:

  • Successful completion of a degree in Health Information Management/ Medical Record Administration or a recognised clinical coding qualification 
  • One to two years prior experience in Clinical Coding in a medium to large sized facility 
  • Timely and accurate allocation of ICD-10-AM codes 
  • Experience with IBA desirable

Health Information Management Project Officer - Victorian Centre of Excellence in Eating Disorders (CEED) - NorthWestern Mental Health, Melbourne Health, Vic.

Commencing August 2008

The Victorian Centre of Excellence in Eating Disorders (CEED) is a state-wide service launched in January 2002 as part of the Victorian Government's commitment to improve the health care for people with eating disorders. CEED is a statewide programme of Melbourne Health, managed by North West Mental Health (NWMH).

CEED currently provides leadership and support to the Victorian Area Mental Health Services through the provision of expert eating disorder consultation, education and training, workforce and service system development and the appropriate utilisation of resources. CEED is re-aligning its operations as part of the specialist mental health service system reform to better meet the needs of people with moderate to severe illnesses.

A Health Information Manager (HIM) project officer will be appointed to implement a client record and health information management system for CEED. This is a 3-month position based at RMH Royal Park Campus.

Prostate Cancer Program Manager - The Victorian Cancer Registry, Carlton, Vic.

Looking for an opportunity to start a career in research? The Prostate Cancer Program is a key program of the Cancer Epidemiology Centre at the Cancer Council Victoria (a non-government charity).

The Data Manager is responsible for implementing, reviewing and maintaining systems and software for the collection, storage and use of contact, scientific and bio-repository data. The successful applicant will enjoy problem solving; confidently manipulate data and work effectively within a multi-disciplinary research team. Experience in epidemiological analysis and statistical packages are preferred.

You will be degree qualified with at least 2 years experience in data management or in an epidemiology or public health research environment. You will have strong written and documentation skills teamed with a strong working knowledge of ethics, confidentiality and privacy relating to research.

Coder/Clerk - The Victorian Cancer Registry, Carlton, Vic.

The Victorian Cancer Registry collects details of all cancer diagnosed in Victoria to improve cancer prevention, control and treatment. We are looking for a dedicated Coder/Clerks to join our Cancer Epidemiology Centre, within The Cancer Council Victoria.

The coder/clerk is responsible for the medical coding and the clerical tasks associated with processing and maintaining cancer registrations.

The successful applicant will have a sound understanding of medical terminology and have basic computer keyboard skills. Coding experience or experience working in a hospital or medical environment would be an advantage. On the job training will be provided. Maturity, good communication skills, the ability to meet deadlines and a willingness to learn are also important pre-requisites.

There are two full-time fixed-term positions available (part-time hours will be considered) with a Total Equivalent Package Value within range $38,438-$42,704 pa (pro-rata) (includes base salary, superannuation, annual leave loading and maximum additional benefit of salary packaging).

In the position of Research Project Manager, you will manage the service provision to researchers conducting population health and human services research using record linkage services provided by the Centre for Health Record Linkage (CHeReL). The role includes facilitating access to the CHeReL by researchers, assisting with study design, developing and implementing appropriate access procedures, and overseeing and reporting the status of linkage projects while ensuring compliance with relevant ethical and data governance requirements. Liaison with counterparts in other states and territories and a national level will also be required.

The successful candidate will have tertiary qualifications in a health related discipline, including post-graduate qualifications in epidemiology or biostatistics. You will also possess experience in the design and implementation of epidemiological research projects, and the capacity to provide high-level client service to researchers in academic and government organisations. You will be knowledgeable in population-based health and health-related data collections held by government agencies, and have a sound understanding of data linkage and the privacy and ethics approval processes and practices.
