Sunnybank Private Hospital is a 142 bed acute facility owned by Healthscope. Healthscope operate 42 hospitals across Australia and will be investing in major expansions to the facilities and services offered at Sunnybank Private over the next 2 years. At present we provide a wide range of specialties including Obstetric, Rehabilitation, Day Surgery, Oncology, Medical, Surgical and Critical Care services that will be expanding following completion of the major refurbishments planned for the hospital.

The successful applicant of the Clinical Coding position will possess the following criteria:

Replacement for Secondment and Maternity Leave Full Time, Fixed Term: July 2008 – September 2009 (Part-time job share considered) An exciting opportunity exists for an innovative and self-motivated Health Information Manager to join our dedicated and friendly team in Health Information Services for a fixed term contract July 2008 to September 2009. 

The position is full time or part-time on a job share arrangement on a fixed term basis to cover the secondment of one of our Health Information Managers to the HealthSmart Project. Mercy Health & Aged Care anticipate the implementation of the Patient & Client Management System in late 2008. Following this, the position will be to cover maternity leave for 12 months commencing in September 2008. Responsibilities include the transmission and reconciliation of PRS/2 data and completion of ICD-10-AM coding including conducting DRG and coding audits involving interactive casemix reviews with clinical staff. You will be participating in the department’s quality improvement program and as such experience with and knowledge of the EQuIP process and commitment to improved measured outcomes is desirable. 

You will also be required to assist with the design, implementation and maintenance of medical record forms. Obstetric, Gynaecology and Neonatal coding knowledge and a sound understanding of casemix would be highly advantageous. The ability to work within a team environment and meet deadlines is essential along with excellent interpersonal skills. You must also possess the ability to work independently and liaise with all levels of clinical and non-clinical staff. You will hold appropriate qualifications in Health Information Management with proven coding experience. Salary will be in accordance with the Health Professional Services Award dependent on experience.
