Deputy Operations Manager, Health Information Services (Full Time – 40 hours per week Fixed Term – May 2008 to April 2009 ) - Austin Health (Austin Hospital & Heidelberg Repatriation Hospital), Heidelberg, Vic. Austin Health is a 900 bed major provider of tertiary health services, health professional education and research in the northeast of Melbourne. The role will involve a variety of responsibilities, including: · Management, leadership and development of staff. This includes problem solving, staff appraisals and dealing with H.R. issues. · Assisting in the planning, management and co-ordination of the HIS Operations service across both sites. · Co-ordinating the departments quality improvement plan and participating in preparing for Accreditation. · Maintaining the HIS modules within the MedTrak computer systems. Working closely with assigned clinical units, your duties will involve coding quality audits and interactive casemix reviews with clinical staff.  The position will enable you to act as a liaison between Health Information Services and the unit, providing you with the opportunity to develop extensive knowledge in that specialty.

The successful applicant will have either a degree in Health Information (or equivalent) or completed a recognised clinical coding course, strong interpersonal skills and demonstrated knowledge of coding moderate to complex inpatient episodes using ICD-10-AM.  A minimum of 2 years coding experience is also desirable.

An exciting opportunity exists for an experienced Health Information Manager to join Sydney Southwest Private Hospital as the Health Information Manager.  The Sydney Southwest Private Hospital is a 93 bed acute facility and provides a range of services including obstetrics, general surgery and orthopaedic surgery.  The Health Information Manager has an integral role in the senior management team of the hospital and reports to the General Manager. 

In this position you will be responsible for:

  • The management of the Health Information Services 
  • Supervision of timely and accurate clinical coding data using ICD-10-AM (5th edition) 
  • Collection and reporting of data for us in clinical indicators, research and evaluation of services 
  • Provision of education and analysis of Clinical Coding and Casemix information
  • Co-ordinating responses to medico-legal and other requests for patient information
  • Participation in performance improvement activities 
  • Ensuring adequate storage of all clinical records in correspondence with relevant legislation.

Health Information Manager, Full-time National HPV Vaccination Program Register (NHVPR), East Melbourne, Vic.

Victorian Cytology Service Inc invites applications for the full-time position of Health Information Manager for the newly established National HPV Vaccination Program Register (NHVPR).

VCS Inc. is highly respected both in Australia and internationally for its contribution to the decrease in the incidence and mortality from cervical cancer among Victorian women and for its quality assurance initiatives and related research.

The NHVPR will support the national immunisation program implemented in April 2007 for females aged 12 to 26 years. The Register will maintain accurate vaccination records and send completion statements and reminders to consumers.

We are seeking an experienced Health Information Manager with: 

  • Appropriate tertiary qualifications in Health Information Management and/or a discipline with a strong quantitative component. 
  • Proven experience in data extraction analysis and the production of statistical reports.

This position is responsible for providing support and training to new RPH Clinical Coders in accordance with the RPH Coding Induction programme. We are seeking to recruit enthusiastic and motivated people to appoint to our recruitment pool for the role of Clinical Coder in the Health Record Management Department.  This position is responsible for abstracting and assigning complete and accurate diagnostic and procedure codes for all inpatient episodes of care for Royal Perth Hospital and Royal Perth Rehabilitation Hospital in accordance with the International Statistical Classification of Diseases and Related Health Problems 10th Revision, Australian Modification (ICD-10-AM) and Department of Health (DoH) Guildelines and the Australian Coding Standards.. Ensuring the accurate transfer of data onto the electronic index, via the patient administration system TOPAS, within reporting guidelines. Liaising with clinical and other hospital staff to ensure accurate and timely completion of discharge summaries.

Full time or part-time work considered. The position is a HSU level 4 with progression to level 5. Coders are rostered to cover Shenton Park site or an option to be based at Shenton Park is available.
