Data
Warehousing. NSW Health
A review of the NSW Corporate Data Warehouse: Information Abyss or
Instrument of Change? Presenters: NSW Health; Brendan Ludvigsen, Robert Haddad, Maureen
Frances and Jeffrey Crompton. The presentations (4) will review the technical, social and
organisational issues relating to the design, development, implementation and operational
establishment of the NSW Health's corporate data warehouse - the "Health Information
Exchange". It will assess the success of the project in terms of user acceptance and
organisational integration. |

Open E.H.R. - clinical and technical.
Presenters: Sam Heard, Peter Schloeffel, Thomas Beale
and Andrew Goodchild. Clinical overview: openEHR from a clinical perspective, with
particular attention to standards and the two level modelling approach. The tutorial will
explore the benefits and difficulties of this approach and describe why the work is
potentially important to patients, clinicians and health service managers. Technical
overview: Description of the openEHR reference model with reference to the requirements
and design principles that has been developed over a ten-year period. Australian
implementation will be described sharing the knowledge gained. |

Presenters: Ken Harvey, Bryn Lewis, Vitali Sintchenko and Malcolm Pradhan. Full information

Backup wizardry.
Presenter: Horst Herb. A variety of backup devices and media will be explained with an
emphasis on reliability, long-term compatibility and cost of operation. I will introduce
participants into techniques that allow unattended automatised backups onto a variety of
media as well as remote backups via phone lines or the Internet. Strategies to safely
reduce bandwidth need and data transfer to a minimum will be outlined. Presentation
learning outcomes:
- What backup media should be used for what purpose and why
- How to implement a fully automatised backup strategy for a medical practice

will be explained followed by general discussions. |

Practice coding and classification information and give currency to tasks at hand. |
